Trialling new equipment

Performing archaeological tasks underwater which require precision work has been greatly assisted by the use of a site grid designed and donated by Analytical Engineering Ltd. They have provided a solution to the time consuming task of constructing scaffolding grids underwater.

The site grid is based around box channel with ready made brackets which allow you to construct a grid of the dimensions you require quickly and with minimum fuss. The grid has been used in action on the Alum Bay I wreck, Warship Hazardous, Bouldnor Cliff and Langstone Harbour.

The grid is pictured below in action on the Sinah Circle site in Langstone Harbour.

We have also been discovering some innovative ways to adapt the grid frame as seen here as temporary Diver Trail stations in Alum Bay.
