HAM135

Site No: HAM135

Site Name: Dock - North of Hamble

Period: Post Medieval

Site Type: Maritime Installation - dock

Description: A dock cut back into the river bank on a westerly alignment is shown on the Murdock-Mackenzie chart of 1783. It is now on the South West corner of Port Hamble marina. This may be the site of the shipbuilding yard used by Janverin and other shipbuilders in the 18th/ 19th centuries (recorded from documentary source as HAM105). Further research may prove that these are the same site.
