HAM125

Site No: HAM125

Site Name: Hulk - Gypsy Queen

Period: Modern

Site Type: Hulk

Description: In early 20th century Mr Lock of Warsham bought a hulk which used to be a guard ship off Netley. It was towed to Warsham and beached near the saw pit (HAM122). Renamed 'Gypsy Queen', stripped and rebuilt to serve crab teas. The vessel was eventually broken up by villagers. Remains of hull are probably one of the gropup of 'wrecks' marked on the 1962 Southampton Harbour Board Chart.
