Maritime and Marine Historic Environment Reseach Framework project - update
*Consultation deadline extension and conference places for May 1st still available*
The University of Southampton is co-ordinating the development of a research framework for the maritime, marine and coastal archaeology of England for English Heritage, funded by the ALSF.
Nine, period-based, working groups have been convened to develop chapters characterising the research so far undertaken, mapping out its strengths and weaknesses and setting research priorities. The framework will provide an overview of what we know and set out an agreed research agenda to enable longterm strategic planning, and inform policy, funding and future projects.
Update
We're extending the consultation for the draft chapters deadline until the end of the month - Friday 30th April.
All the draft research characterisation chapters are online at the project website for you to download, read and comment on: http://www.southampton.ac.uk/archaeology/research/projects/maritime_research_framework.html
We're keen to hear everyone's views on what needs expanding, cutting or adding to these analyses of research so far undertaken into England's maritime, marine and coastal archaeology. More information is available here.
Plus there are still some places available at the May 1st project conference (9.30-5pm Avenue Campus, University of Southampton), where we'll be discussing the research characterisation draft chapters and mapping out the research agendas. It's your opportunity to shape the research framework for England's marine historic environment...
For a place, please email framework@soton.ac.uk, a conference programme can be seen here.
