Beaulieu
During the 1990's the HWTMA was involved in a joint project with the Department of Archaeology, University of Southampton.
This project aimed to investigate the archaeology of the Beaulieu river and its environs. The shipbuilding site of Buckler's Hard became the main focus of the project, being an excellent excavation training site for Univeristy students.
The HWTMA was particularly involved with the underwater investigations of the river. HWTMA staff and volunteers enabled a geophysical survey to be undertaken, and in later years an excavation to complement and extend the land excavation.
The site provided underwater excavation training for students and members of the Nautical Archaeology Society.
